Story

Serious Food since 2004.

We take our food and wine seriously and offer authentic Italian fine dining in a classy yet relaxed ambiance, with friendly service.

We would like to invite you to join us unless you are looking for “authentic” American-Italian favorites.

Fabio and Missy welcome you to Sirena, as close as you can get to the old country without airfare.

Fabio, after 30 years in Rome, moved to Encinitas, CA, at the end of 1993. He was an avid surfer and split his time between the waves and the restaurant. He was the managing partner of two very successful establishments. In 2004 he moved to the East Coast with his wife and two kids, Audrey (now sommelier and server with us) and Marcello. The Rinaldi’s opened the original Sirena in Norfolk, where Missy’s parents live, and after ten years in 2014, moved to the current Virginia Beach location which is more of a natural fit.

After twenty years of relentless high standards, Sirena is now regarded as the finest Italian cuisine in the area. During the years we grew a very loyal following that has become like friends and family and we are most grateful for our amazing clientele!

Italian cuisine is all about simplicity and high quality ingredients, we strive to buy the best we can get our hands on. We try to take advantage of what the area has to offer: fish from the Chesapeake Bay, clams and oysters from the Eastern Shore, pork from Smithfield, local produce when available in the summer, etc …

We work only with the freshest ingredients and you can taste the difference". We make every sauce, dressing and all dishes from scratch. We make fresh pasta, we cure our own pancetta, we smoke our salmon, we hand-cut our meat and fish and more.

A well-educated palate knows that there is not a great meal without a great wine to go hand in hand. We are also big-time wine fanatics, if you will. Our wines have been personally selected to complement our authentic cuisine. Our list is about value and offers a wide selection of great wines from around the world, with an emphasis, of course, on Italy.

For some, a restaurant is only a business; for us it’s a way of life. So relax, sit back and enjoy Sirena.
